How to determine number of DECT bases necessary to create fully functional DECT system?
In Slican company there is available special service set necessary to perform so called site survey. This service set consist of DECT base, power supply device, router which is DHCP server and DECT handset which enables to execute measurements of emited by DECT base signal coverage. Service set includes also battery, so it is possible to execute all measurements in location without power supply network. To borrow service set, please contact with Export Department. Please notice, the price of such service reflects costs of transport service set to specified country. It will be different for different countries.

Is it possible to use handsets different then Philips
Yes. It is possible to use handset which fulfill following requirements:
- Operates according DECT-GAP standard
- It is possible to log-in this handset to other than default base
- Handover function is implemented in handset
Following handsets was tested in Slican DECT-IP system:
- Siemens Gigaset A160
- Siemens Gigaset A260
- Siemens Gigaset C1
- Siemens Gigaset A58H
- Siemens Gigaset 4000 Classic
- Kirk Z-3040
- DeTeWe
- Panasonic KX-TGA 651, KX-TGA 750, KX-TG 6421 - there is no CLIP, some problems with call forwarding - included in list according info from user
DECT base LED signals meaning
DECT base restart is signal by LED located on DECT base casing. Sequence of LED signals is following:
- LED flashes slowly
- LED blows out for circa 30 seconds
- LED flashes slowly once more for circa 15 -20 seconds
- LED flashes quickly
- LED shine continuously
LED flashing from point 1 means acquiring network address from DHCP server. After acquiring network address (it is necessarily to equip DHCP server in BootP function - server should send to DECT base also information of TFTP server network address) DECT base communicate with TFTP server TFTP (flashing described in point 3). After connecting to TFTP server, DECT base downloads firmware and configuration file from TFTP server (flashing quickly). After downloading required software LED on DECT base casing shines continuously, DECT base is launched and ready to register handsets and establish calls.
How to configure TFTP server in Slican DECT-IP system
In Slican DECT-IP system, PBX is always TFTP server. It is not necessarily to do anything to launch this server. By default this server is implemented on VoIP card.
How to configure DHCP server in Slican DECT-IP system
In DHCP server which is used by DECT bases should be function BootP implemented - beside assigning network base itself, DHCP server informs also about network address of TFTP server, from which DECT base firmware and configuration file are downloaded. Because not all DHCP servers support this function, it is recommended to switch on the DHCP Server function in PBX. This server can successfully replace used until now DHCP server. Function which is not supported by DHCP server in Slican PBX is assigning network addresses on the base of MAC addresses. if due to this or any other reason it is necessarily to leave existing DHCP server, which doesn't support BootP function, it is recommended to design separate network for PBX and all DECT bases - DHCP server in this network will be delivered by PBX.
What is multicast group for?
For proper "handover" function operates it is necessarily to launch multicast communication. In DAP Configurator application there is multicast address defined, this address shouldn't be changed. In the same time it should be assured to broadcast information, sent to this address, over the network with DECT bases. If in our network there are standard (cheep) switches, multicast information are broadcast without problems. Problems may appear while using programmable switches. In this situation IGMP Routing should be enabled, entering to appropriate field multicast address and grouping all DECT bases in one multicast group, which uses this address. Depending on used switch appropriate fields may use different name.
